First on our series of the world's DCN's is Terry Richardson. Maybe you've not heard of him, but I'm sure that you have seen at least one of his photos circulating the internet or in a fashion magazine somewhere. Who then is Terry Richardson?
Terry Richardson is an American photographer born in New York but raised in California. Son of noted photographer Bob Richardson, Terry has photographed for an eclectic mix of clientele; from GQ to Gucci to Penthouse. With his signature raw style and ability to exude a powerful sexual recklessness in his images, his talents are well sought after around the industry.
Why he's a Damn Cool Ninja:
- looks like a 70's pornstar
- been rocking the flannel / plaid shirts before they became cool
- comfortable being around naked people and being naked himself
- killer ink
- and have you seen his work?
- ability to strip someone of their clothes using his mind
- wakes up in the morning and does what he loves
For your all your swagger and cool, Mr. Richardson, we salute you. You are a Damn Cool Ninja.

the Grass Brass Knuckles
Ninja's can kick ass with or without the help of anything, but then again physical assault can also be a vehicle of cool. With these Grass Brass Knuckles from Icelandic designer Hafsteinn Juliusson, one can be dangerous and environmentally conscious with one swing of the fist.
Of course, meaningless fighting is not really a damn cool ninja thing to do (one fights with a purpose, whatever the purpose may be), but when the opportunity comes along, you'll be ready.
Just be sure you know a bit about gardening AND know how to throw a punch.

the Wayfarer
A pair of Wayfarers today will last you till you die. And if you take real good care of it, you can pass it on to your grandkids. This is the story behind my own pair of these sunglasses. I got them from my grandad, and this pair dates back to a few years after world war II. Thus is the testament to the immortal cool of the Wayfarers
Designed by Raymond Stegeman for Ray-Ban in 1952, the Wayfarers are enjoying a rebirth as of late. And as far as I'm concerned, it will enjoy its stylish status til kingdom come. If you only have to have one pair of sunglasses, this is it.
And please do not get the colored ones if you can help it. It's a fashion fad and in about a year's time it would be so last year. Stick with the plain blacks or tortoise shell and you're set for life.
Untouchable. Timeless. Just plain cool.

the Perfect Unison x Parra Headphones
There is always something cool with owning something that only a select few are allowed to have. And having only fifty units produced these headphones from The Perfect Unison are as exclusive as it gets.
Designed by Dutch artist Parra, these birch wood headphones are hand printed (via silkscreen) and if that isn't awesome enough it has “30mm Ultrasone® mylar drivers which have a frequency range of 20-20,000hz and an impedance of output of 35 ohms.” I have no idea what that means exactly but it's supposed to sound damn good.
Exclusivity has its price though. These beauties will set you back around $450 or around PHP 22,000.
Hot damn. Gonna research more on Parra himself and will post in the future. He sounds like a Damn Cool Ninja.

The Puma Clyde
As the cliche goes, the classics never go out of style, and one of the true classics is the Puma Clyde. As the legend goes, in 1973 Walt "Clyde" Frazier of the New York Knicks (named because of his similar gangster swagger as the male half of Bonnie and Clyde) requested a wider fitting version of Puma's suede basketball shoe. Puma obliged and the rest is history.
As with the man himself, the Clyde carries a certain New York City swagger. That brash but sophisticated cool; uncompromising yet extremely adaptable.
To be honest, the mere fact that it's suede is cool enough for me. Add to that it's extremely comfortable fit, this shoe fits the bill. For those looking for an alternative to Chuck Taylors but still want the history behind the shoes, the Puma Clydes are worth a look.
Now available in a myriad of colorways, choose a Clyde that fits your personal style.

Welcome to Damn Cool Ninja!
There is no questioning the fact that the most awesome people that walked the earth are the secret society of Ninjas. The masked stealth assassins of ancient Japan have been the epitome of cool since the time of their inception and even until now, they are still a steady source of inspiration and admiration for many.
They like the dark, they sneak up on people unnoticed, they wear toe-socks, they like to kill people and they value silence. I could go on, but then you're already probably convinced.
So this blog is dedicated to the extraction of the quiet, deadly and beautiful cool that the Ninja exudes. Through a collection of modern day arsenal of awesomeness, i hope each entry is a step in helping you to become one Damn Cool Ninja.
